July 13, 2024

I have twin boys and I've been documenting the games they play at different ages, starting at age 2! Here is a video compilation of all the games they played (by the rules) when they were 2 years old. I've also made a list of 5 of their favorites.

Children's Games

June 4, 2023

When my twins were a little over 2 years old, they started playing some board games by the actual rules! Before that, I had introduced them to board games and they liked playing with the pieces. I blogged about some of those experiences in my Training Games series. But when they started playing games by the rules, I started making overview videos of each game we've played. Here's the playlist on YouTube of all the videos I've made about children's games. The links to each overview video in the playlist are also below, grouped by how old my kids were when they first played the game by the rules.

Additionally, I made a list of some of my (and my kids') favorites to play with 2 year olds and 3 year olds! I'm also planning on making a list video for each year as they grow older.

Training Games: Go Away Monster!

February 22, 2021

by Ambie Valdés
This is part of a series called Training Games, where I review children's games when playing (with modified rules) with my twin toddlers. This review was written when my twins were 17 months old.

Go Away Monster! Is a game where you take turns drawing cardboard shapes out of a bag and placing them into your bedroom. But if you get a monster, you say “go away monster” and put it to the side (or throw it across the room). There’s shape matching in placing the pieces, and older children start learning how to differentiate the shapes by feel.
